Our science curriculum is designed to allow our pupils to understand the world around them, and lay the foundations for the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. Through research, questioning and practical, hands on investigations, we aim to spark curiosity and awe about processes and the wider scientific world around our pupils.
We have a strong emphasis on working scientifically, so our pupils are able to use these skills through their science topics, within other areas of learning and out in their everyday lives and beyond. During investigations, pupils are encouraged to use the types of enquiry posters, so they can look at what type of enquiry they are carrying out or is better suited to an investigation, as well as which skills they may need to use. Not only does this embed these enquiry types and skills associated with their work, but allows pupils to make independent decisions about their enquiries and gain an understanding of what they are doing and why.
