At West Green we are very proud of our diverse community and the different languages our pupils speak. Our pupils have the opportunity to hear a range of languages, attempting to learn some key words/phrases, to help welcome new pupils who are learning English as an Additional Language, and to help create a sense of belonging for all our pupils.
When learning about different cultures and places around the world, the learning of key words are encouraged as part of pupils learning experiences, so they can build on their understanding of the diverse world around them.
French is taught to Years 3 to 6, carefully building on pupils fluency and understanding, as well as building their confidence in speaking and reading in another language.
